Y. S. Vijayalakshmi Reddy known as Y. S. Vijayamma is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh.[1] She now belongs to YSR Congress Party.[2]

Political career

Y. S. Vijayamma, wife of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR), was elected without opposition to YSR's Pulivendula seat in the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly in February 2010 after her husband's death in a helicopter crash.[3]

Resignation

She resigned in March 2011 from her MLA post to seek a re-election from Pulivendula constituency after joining YSR Congress party.[4]

In by-elections in Pulivendula Y. S. Vijayamma won the Pulivendula Assembly seat by a record majority of 85,373 votes, highest in that constituency.Mrs. Vijayamma secured a record 81,373 votes margin, surpassing her husband's 68,681 vote margin in the 2009 elections. She humbled her nearest Congress rival and brother-in-law Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, who got a little more than 28,000 votes.

Won in 2011 Assembly Election with 70.09% of votes gain for YSR CONGRESS party in Pulivendla[6]

Personal life

Y. S. Vijayamma married to Y. S. Rajashekhara Reddy and has a son Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, a politician[7] and a daughter, Sharmila.[8][9]
